Priority Records, the historic hip-hop label that helped propel acts like N.W.A., Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, has relaunched. Billboard reports that the label has been resurrected as part of a joint venture between Capitol Records and Insurgency Music (home of acts such as Baauer).
The new Priority Records will launch on August 13 with the release of “Higher,” the collaborative EDM/hip-hop track by Just Blaze & Baauer featuring Jay Z. Producer Harry Fraud, whose resume includes French Montana’s “Shot Caller” as well as work with the likes of Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa and Earl Sweatshirt, has also signed a deal with Priority for his Surf School label.
Harry took to Twitter to explain the new partnership. “For the label I am looking to create partnerships with other independent minded artists and release wavy music. Its not about signing people.” He then went on to clarify, “As far as me as an artist/producer I do not have a record deal…yet (evil laugh).”
